Changiz-KhanI congratulate Helpline Trust on organizing its 6th National Conference on “Putting the Consumer First”. I am sure, like the earlier five conferences, this will also serve to highlight critical issues related to consumer protection and elicit the opinion of the experts on the topic.

On my part, consumer protection is something very close to my heart and my Ministry. We are aware of the steps that need to be taken in this regard. We are grateful for the help we receive from organizations like Helpline Trust who bring various consumer related issues to our notice and involve civil society in their redressal.

I am sure through cooperation and collaboration, we shall be able to weed out the unscrupulous from amongst the manufacturers and allow access to the consumers only of those people who follow Good Manufacturing Practices and are conscious of consumer rights.

I am also happy to note that the Trust is also instituting ‘Putting the Consumer First’ Awards, which will acknowledge the role of the industry and service sector organizations that have Corporate Social Responsible as a cornerstone of their operational policies.
This will not only acknowledge their contribution, but will also make them role models for others, who should also aspire to attain this recognition.
